2009 Navrat Family News

December 28th, 2009 - Nick and Kyle came over to play.  Kyle and Keegan played Wii.  Nick and Dakota were on the computer then went over to Nick's house to play.  Michelle and I watched the Vikings lose to the bears in overtime but I was able to beat TJ in Fantasy Football on the last play of the 4th quarter.  Dakota and Keegan played PS3 Indiana Jones then watched Ironman with mom before bed.

December 27th, 2009 - The network is working.  Michelle's computer is upgraded to windows 7 and her Norton Internet Security Pro and wireless mouse is hooked up with all the updates finally done.  The boys spent the day playing Indiana Jones 2.

December 26th, 2009 - The boys spent most of the day playing Indiana Jones 2.  They couldn't get on the internet since I was busy trying to hook up the network for our computers, Playstation 3 and Wii.

December 25th, 2009 - Dakota was very excited with Santa's gift which was a six month membership to Club Penguin.  He has been asking for me to let him join for two months but I told him we are done paying for online games.  They tried it about four months ago and played a week and let the next 7 weeks go by without playing.  Santa also brought them sleds but forgot the snow this year.  Keegan wrote a letter to Santa last year and only asked for snow.  We sure got it last year!  Santa also brought Keegan Pokémon cards.  The boys got a Wii with games family night, Mario and Sonic at the Winter Games, Star Wars the Clone Wars with Yoda and Anakin light sabers, and Rayman Rabbid Rabbit.  Both boys were thrilled with the Playstation 3 game "Indiana Jones 2" from Grandma and Pappy.  Dakota was excited for me to open presents from Kelly and mom and the boys.  I got an authentic Vikings Favre jersey from Kelly Lackner.  The boys and mom gave me a Vikings frame with a picture of them in Vikings clothing.  They also gave me a Fran Tarkington Vikings jersey and a fishing rod, two Vikings t-shirts, a coffee cup with pictures of the kids and Michelle and a nice black coat.  Keegan got a nice Vikings yellow hooded sweater.  Dakota got a Tomlinson dark blue Chargers jersey.  Each boy got a NFL watch from their favorite team.  He has been wanting that one since he got the powder blue one.  Michelle got a nice set of cooking pans and comforter (which she took back to the store). She did keep her wireless mouse for her laptop and scandisk. Santa brought her an ABBA cd she has been wanting.  Santa brought me "Dragon Age" and mouse controller for Playstation 3.  Dakota played Club Penguin for a while then both boys mainly played Indiana Jones the rest of the day. After the football game, Dakota and I played Wii sports.  He beat me in baseball hitting 3 home runs against me for a 3-0 win.  Then he knocked me out in boxing (boy was I sore the next day) and won in tennis.

December 24th, 2009 - Michelle baked some pumpkin pies this morning.  Her family came over for Christmas Eve supper.  The kids played "hide from Carson" and "run from Dakota" and played with spy gear. We had our gift exchange.  Janae gave Keegan Pokeman cards.  Abby gave Dakota a DS Spongebob Truth or Dare game.  Dakota gave Abby DS World of Zoo game and a build a bear gift card.  Keegan gave Carson a Craftsman chair.  Both boys enjoyed getting McDonald gift cards.  We all picked gifts and I had mine stolen three times and ended up with our gift a battery operated camping lamp and gloves at the end of the exchange.

December 23rd, 2009 - Keegan woke me up this morning asking to play Dungeon Siege II.  We played that most of the morning and then Dakota and I played it in the afternoon.  Keegan asked if his friend Jaden could come over and play so we went and picked him up around 3:30pm.  Dakota's friend Cody invited him over to play.  Dakota left around 5pm and it turned out he was asked to spend the night so had a sleepover.

December 22nd, 2009 - The boys and I met Michelle at the gym.  We all played basketball for a while.  Dakota brought his football and we played catch too.  We rented Star Trek and watched it before bedtime.

December 20th, 2009 - Jaden and Trustan spent the whole day playing with the boys. 

December 19th, 2009 - The boys played with Nick on the computer today.  They are mostly playing games on the internet but still play Dungeon Siege II.  Their friends Jaden and Trustan came over and spent the night.  Mostly playing on the computer and Playstation 3.  We all watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince before bedtime.

December 16th, 2009 - Keegan's class went on a field trip to look for eagles.  He saw 22 eagles.  They had a good time sliding down the muddy hills.

December 15th, 2009 - We had our office Christmas party.  Michelle and the boys came but we all had to leave shortly afterwards for Dakota's school presentation.  Dakota showed off his geology project they had worked all fall on and then they sang rock songs.

November 7th, 2009 - Dakota's team lost 0 to 5 and Keegan's team had their first loss of the season, losing 2 to 5.  Dakota had his birthday party with his friends at Elite Martial Arts.  They had a great time.  All the kids got to break a board with their foot.  They played dodge ball and learned karate.  Dakota got to break a board with his hand.  After the party Hunter and Colton came over until 9pm and played with the boys.

November 6th, 2009 - Michelle and I went on Dakota's field trip.  They went to three places around town to study the Missoula flood and look at how the flood molded the landscape.  They searched for rocks too.

November 3rd, 2009 - Michelle and I went with Keegan on his field trip to Turnbull Wildlife Refugee.  They went on a hike and snuck up on ducks and looked for other birds.  The guide had showed the kids many stuffed animals and talked about owls.  Keegan thought the owl with a "stick through his butt" was the best.  They had mounted the owl on a stick to show how far an owl can turn it's head around.

October 31st, 2009 - Keegan's team won 4 to 1.  Keegan had a nice assist passing to Kyle who kicked in his first of two goals.  Adam and Brandon scored the other goals.  They played a pretty good team.  Dakota's team lost 2 to 1.  It was a well fought game.  Tied 1 to 1 at the half.  Nick, Kyle and Sydney came over for pictures.  Abby, Carson, Kelsey and Janae all came to go trick or treating with the boys.  Simon and Josh joined us too.  Naomi, Larry, Chase, Jenna and Von were over too.  We ran into Nick and Kyle when we were out.  Nick wanted to come with us but Kyle wanted to go home.  After we got home I made everyone hot chocolate.  Then went out in the back yard and started a fire and the kids made smores.  We sat around the fire while the kids jumped on the trampoline.

October 28th, 2009 - Keegan woke up with a cough so isn't going to school.  He is disappointed.  He doesn't like missing school at all.

October 27th, 2009 - Dakota, Keegan and I carved the pumpkin this afternoon.  They have been wanting to do that for two weeks.

October 26th, 2009 - Dakota was the only person in his class to get perfect scores on both his math tests today.

October 24th, 2009 - Keegan's team won again 7 to 3.  He saved two goals as goalie but didn't score today.  Dakota's team lost 3 to 5.

October 17th, 2009 - Dakota's team finally won their first game this year.  They won 5 to 1.  Dakota didn't score but had a few chances with one bouncing off the goal post.  Keegan's team remained undefeated.  Keegan scored 1 and Adam scored 4 and Kyle scored 1.

October 10th, 2009 - Dakota had a morning game. They lost 2 to 5.  Dakota had a few shots at the goal but had them blocked.  He and Caleb had a nice pass and dribble up for one of the shots and worked well as a team. 

October 3rd, 2009 - Dakota's team lost 0 to 4 in soccer.  Dakota had two nice shots at goals but kicked it at the goalie.  Keegan's team won 6 to 5.  Keegan, Brandon and Tyler each scored two goals each.

September 26th, 2009 - Dakota's team lost 3 to 5 this week.  They played another good game but couldn't get their shots in and didn't block the other teams shots that well.  Keegan's team won by over 10 again.  Keegan scored towards the end of the game a few times and had a few shots miss or get blocked.

September 19th, 2009 - Everyone thought Dakota's soccer game was at 12:30 PM but I found out about 11:55 AM that it was at 12:15 PM so we rushed to the field.  Keegan had to play goalie the first ten minutes while we waited for other players to show up.  Keegan saved two goals.  We went out to a 1 to 0 lead.  Later in the first half we fell behind 3 to 5.  But the team played hard and good defense the second half and didn't let them score.  We were mostly on their side of the field but couldn't get any more goals.  Keegan played the first quarter of his game.  He scored two goals.  He and Kyle made some nice passes back and forth and Kyle also scored two goals.  We left the first quarter with a 6-0 lead.  We had to go to Amanda and Eric's wedding.  It was a beautiful ceremony.  The kids had a blast playing together afterwards.

September 18th, 2009 - Michelle had family over for a dinner for Amanda and Eric.  Amanda's dad, Bill had to go to the emergency room so Bill and Amanda missed the dinner party.  The rest of the family had a nice dinner and conversation and the kids enjoyed playing on the trampoline.

September 16th, 2009 - Keegan's class had another field trip which I went on.  It was the same trail as a few days ago.

September 14th, 2009 - I went on a hike with Keegan's class on a trail at Liberty Lake.  Then in the afternoon I walked with Dakota's class on his field trip.

September 13th, 2009 - We went out to the lake today.  Dakota caught six bluegill and I got three.  The kids had fun playing with Abby and Carson.  They had water fights with spray bottles.

September 12th, 2009 - Keegan scored a goal for his team this morning and the team won 16 to 3.  Brandon scored 4 to 5 goals and so did Adam,  Andrew scored a goal.  Tyler scored about 6. Dakota had three to four shots at goals but had some blocked or missed.  Their team lost 3 to 4 but did a really good job of keeping spread out and playing new positions for the first time.  Keegan had a second game.  They won 4 to 1.

September 6th, 2009 - We took the boys to see the Spokane Indians vs the Yakima Bears minor league baseball game.  Michelle missed the first 4 innings since she ran home to get some cash since the concessions stands didn't take credit cards.  The Spokane Indians won 11-2.  The boys had fun once they got their corn dogs, chips, cookie, and pop.  After the game they had a fireworks show since it was the last game of the season.

September 4th, 2009 - We went to the IMMAX theater and watched Amazon.  Keegan got a hole in one during minature golf.  He had a 34, Dakota a 31, Michelle a 27 and I had a 23 today.  The boys rode some of the park rides and then bumper cars with Michelle and I.  Dakota and Keegan went on the ferris wheel with me.

September 3rd, 2009 - I took Dakota to the library so he could get a couple of magic tree books to read.  He also got a movie on sea monsters.  We had soccer practice tonight for Dakota and Keegan joined in the practice.

September 2nd, 2009 - Michelle and the boys took the dogs to the river again this morning.  We went to splashdown again.  Their wasn't many people at the park so the boys rode the tubes a lot today.  I went on the double tube a few times with both boys and once with Michelle.  We went to the boys school to see who their teachers were.  They had fun playing on the playground with friends.

September 1st, 2009 - Michelle and the boys took the dogs down to the river.  They had a nice walk and the dogs loved playing in the river. Both boys had thief first soccer practice.   Dakota and I played a couple of games of MLB on the play station before bed.

August 31st, 2009 - We went to Silverwood today.  The boys and I went on the paratrooper first.  Then we all did bumper boats and the log fume to cool off.  Mom talked the boys into having me sit in the dunking booth.  The boys couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.  But they paid for five balls and surprised me by pushing the button with their hand to dunk me. Dakota, Keegan and I rode the tilt-a-whirl. After that Keegan drove me the antique cars and Dakota drove mom.  Keegan and I went on the trabant and Dakota and mom rode the corkscrew rollercoaster.  Keegan wouldn't go on it.  We all road the Thunder Canyon river ride then headed to the water park.  First we did the family tube slide then the we went into the lazy river.  After that the rest of the time was spent in the wave pools.  We watched the ice show and then the magic show.  Keegan decided he would go on the corkscrew rollercoaster so we went on it.  Then Dakota and I went and Keegan wanted to go again.  Dakota and mom rode the timber terror rollercoaster then Dakota wanted to go again so I rode it with him.  They got their caramel apples with m and m's so had a fun filled day.

August 28th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to Liberty Lake to watch black stallion with Ramli, Syra and Siti in the outdoor park.  The boys helped haul wood from the driveway to the backyard. They are trying to raise money to buy a month's subscription for Club Penquin.com to play their game.  Dakota didn't want to do it because they had seen a spider.  He eventually came up to help after realizing he wouldn't get his club membership.

August 26th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to meet Blake, Danielle and Pam at their private pool to swim.  Dakota said it was fun that mom got in the pool. Dakota practiced bobbing and holding his breath.  Nick and Kyle spent the night. 

August 23rd, 2009 - Michelle took the boys and Simon down to the sand park so they could play in the water and sand. 

August 22nd, 2009 - We went out to Blair, Pam, Blake and Danielle's cabin at Deer Park Lake.  They took us for a boat ride around the lake.  The kids went on their tube.  They played on the beach and in the water.  Dakota, Blair and I fished off the dock.  Dakota got the most bites but couldn't land them at first.  I caught a nice catfish and Blair was catching a lot of small perch.  Dakota fished towards Blair's spot and started catching bigger perch.  He ended up catching the most fish and we cooked them for dinner on the grill.

August 20th, 2009 - We took the boys and Janae to Splashdown and Dakota's friend Jaden. Nick, Kyle and Sydney showed up for a few hours.  They had a good time.

August 19th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys and Janae and met Abby and Jenna at a park this afternoon.  They were supposed to go to the pool but it was closed.  She picked up Keegan's friend Jaden to spend the night.  Dakota got dropped off at his friend Jaden's to spend the night.  Around 7pm Keegan's friend Jaden got homesick and wanted to go home.  We cooked some marshmallows on the fire and they jumped on the trampoline but took him home around 830pm.  Then Dakota called and wanted to come home because he had a blister on his hand.  We talked to him for a while and he decided to stay.  Keegan was sad his friend went home.  He had been looking forward to the sleepover.

August 17th, 2009 - Michelle brought the boys to my office at lunch.  We walked to Riverfront park.  Keegan and I rode the carousel once.  Both boys each got a huge waffle cone.  Keegan couldn't keep up with the melting ice cream.  They had big smiles on their faces.  Dakota was very excited when he saw the size of it.  We walked up to the rides.  Keegan and I rode the ferris wheel for the first time.  Dakota didn't want to go but somehow Michelle got him on it. She doesn't like them at all.  Her knuckles were white after that ride.  The simulator was finally working.  Keegan really liked it and we ended up going on it three times.  The boys love the spider and tilt-whirl so went on that and got mom to go on the sizzler.  We played minature golf.  Keegan got two holes in one during the game and ended up winning with a score of 27.  Dakota had 30 and I got a nice 33.  We stopped at Outback steakhouse for dinner.

August 16th, 2009 - We went out to Papa and Granma's lake today.  Dakota went fishing in the boat with mom and Papa but didn't get any bites.  All his line got tangled from his new pole from pappy.  Keegan fished on the dock with his new pole from his birthday.  We didn't get anything either.

August 15th, 2009 - I cut down some of the birch tree today.  The boys played with Nick and Simon.  Dakota watched some of the Seahawks and Chargers game with me during the evening.  Keegan snooped in one of Michelle's shopping bags and found the Vikings Jersey she had got for him and the Chargers jersey for Dakota so they both put them on for the football game.  Keegan didn't watch more then a few minutes though.

August 10th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys and Kyle to Splashdown during the late afternoon to early evening.  When they got home Nick and Seth were waiting to play with Dakota.  After supper the boys finally wrote out their thank you cards. Dakota and I watched AFV.

August 8th, 2009 - The boys came out to Kelly's house with me to pack up the last of his things.  They watched cartoons most of the day.  Keegan came out a few times to help.  He filled up a box full of firewood for me.  When we got home both boys carried the wood to the woodpile.  They played on the trampoline with Simon.  Michelle went to Kellie Knack's wedding.  She visited with Jon and Maryanne Watson.  It was a nice wedding.

August 7th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to watch Ramlee in a play.  Then they went to riverfront park where they rode their scooters.  Dakota wrecked and scraped his elbow.  He started saying, "oh no not again", a few times.  He got a scrap in the past and remembered how it stung.  Michelle told me the story later in the day and broke up laughing.

August 6th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys and Janae to Splashdown.  They met Colton, Hunter and Crystal.  Michelle met an older lady who was a swimmer.  They talked about Dakota's reluctance to take swimming lessons.  She told Michelle to go get him.  She taught him how to not plug his nose with his hand.  She taught him how to float properly.  She wishes she would have had more time to spend with him.  Dakota told me about it and told me she said, "No excuses", when he told her he can't do it.

August 5th, 2009 - I bought Kelly's trampoline so took it apart at sunrise this morning.  I helped Kelly and Sean pack until noon when they left for ND.  Michelle took the boys to Bible school from 6pm to 8pm.  I set up the trampoline to surprise them when they got home. 

August 4th, 2009 - The boys spent the afternoon and evening with Nick and Kyle at their house since Michelle worked and I was at Kelly's packing.  Kara took all the kids to bible school.

August 3rd, 2009 - Michelle took the kids to the city pool and then to splashdown.  The boys had fun going on the slides with Michelle since they were there without any friends.

August 2nd, 2009 - I helped Kelly and Sean pack all day.  Michelle and the boys came over in the afternoon and helped until dark.  Dakota and Keegan had fun riding in Kelly's pickup when we hauled load's to the semi trailer.

August1st, 2009 - Michelle took the boys over to Naomi's to visit and swim.  They had a good time jumping in the pool.

July 31st, 2009 - Michelle took Dakota to Splashdown to meet Crystal and Colton.  Keegan wanted to stay home and play with Nick and Kyle.  They watched Anaconda, played Dungeon Siege then went over to Simon's to play.

July 29th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to splashdown this afternoon.  They met Nick, Kyle, Kara and Sydney there.  We had our last baseball game of the season tonight.  Dakota saved his best hit of the year for the game.  He had a nice hit out into centerfield and got an RBI with Keegan going from 2nd to home.  After the game they all got medals and photo books that Michelle made for the families.  Michelle dished out root beer floats and cookies to everyone.  Dakota and Keegan played on the playground equipment after the game with Austin who only lives about four houses from us.

July 26th, 2009 - We got a call from Jenna around noon today asking if we wanted to go to Silverwood. So we hurried and packed and off we went.  We spent about 4 hours at the water park.  Abby went in the lazy river and wave pool for the first time.  Dakota and I raced mom and Keegan down the tube slides.  Keegan and I took on Dakota and mom.  Keegan and partner were the winners both times.  Dakota spent a lot of time in the wave pool.  He was searching for money and found 49 cents.  We went to the amusement park next.  The boys rode one of their favorite rides.  Keegan went on the corkscrew roller coaster for the first time with all of us.  Once we were buckled in Michelle started getting nervous and started asking me if Keegan should go on the ride.  Will he fall out?  Should he get off.  Well just as they started the ride Keegan wanted off and was in tears.  It was over in 30 seconds.  Michelle said Keegan broke a smile through all his tears, at least for a brief moment. He cheered up on the next ride with Abby and Dakota, the sizzler.  They rode the tilt-whirl and then went to get ice cream while Michelle and I went on the aftershock rollercoaster.

July 25th, 2009 - After I got off work in the afternoon we went to Riverfront park.  The boys rode the rides and carousel.

July 24th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to Priest Lake with Siti and her kids and one of their friends.  They had a good time swimming at the beach and playing in the woods.

July 23rd, 2009 - The boys had a baseball game tonight.  Keegan had a really nice hit.  Keegan caught to ground balls playing pitcher and got an out when he threw it first base.

July 22nd, 2009 - We took the boys to splash down again and met Colton, Hunter and Crystal.  Afterwards we picked up Janae and had pizza at Rocky Rocco's.  The kids rode the carousel and took Janae on the Tilt-a-whirl for the first time.

July 21st, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to a swimming pool with Blake, Danielle and Pam.

July 18th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to the beach at lake Coeur d'Alene.  The boys swam, played ball and walked the docks.  Michelle was happy that each took her hand during the walk.  She said it was very cute.  After I got off work we all went to the 10pm IMAX which was showing Transformer's 2.  Dakota really enjoyed it.  Keegan did too but he struggled as long as he could but finally fell asleep.  I kept trying to wake him up but he would say, "Dad I'm too tired". 

July 17th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys to the dollar store.  Afterwards they went to Manito park

July 16th, 2009 - We all went to Splashdown again.  This time we took Janae.  Keegan and Dakota played with Colton and Zane from school.  We had to go again for their baseball game.  Keegan had a nice hit out into the outfield.

July 15th, 2009 - We all went to Splashdown all day.  Michelle and I went on what the kids call the toilet bowl slide.  Then the boys tried it.  Keegan wanted to all along but it took Dakota awhile to finally decide to go with him on the double tube down the slide.  We all had a good day.  We had to leave around 4pm to go to our baseball game.  The kid's had to run after the game for goofing off.  All the parents clapped with that decision.  Keegan was catcher the fifth inning.

July 11th, 2009 - We went to Savage House Pizza for Keegan's party.  He invited Sydney, Nick, Kyle, Simon, Abby, Carson, Janae and Jaden.  The kids had fun playing the electronic games first.  After pizza and opening presents they played in the tunnel tubes then miniature golf.  We went home where the kids played on the slip and slide.  Michelle made everyone smores later in the evening.  They had a good time with sparklers after dark.  Jaden and Kyle and Simon slept over but Simon went home around midnight.  It was his first sleep over.

July 9th, 2009 - The boys had fun playing baseball tonight.  Keegan had a few grounders hit to him in right field that he got to throw in two second.

July 7th, 2009 - Keegan was a bit disappointed when he woke up and found out we were not staying at a hotel.  He likes to go swimming at the pools.  We stopped in Bozeman at the Walmart where the boys used some birthday money to buy a gift.  Keegan bought a basketball with his gift card from Aunt Kay and Dakota picked out a Frisbee football.  We got back from vacation around 3pm.  The boys went to play with Nick and Kyle right away.  We made their baseball game in the evening.  Dakota hit a nice fly ball towards third but the third basemen caught it.  Keegan got on base his first hit but his second was a nice fly ball by the second basemen.  Keegan thought it popped up over his head so ducked down and stopped running after a step. Then after he heard me yell run he got thrown out by a step at 1st base.  Dakota played pitcher and outfield.  Keegan played 1st base and outfield. 

July 6th, 2009 - We left Burbank, SD around 10:30 AM.  We had a long stop at Al's Oasis where we looked around at gifts.  Then we stopped at the 1800's town and took a tour.  The boys enjoyed having a root beer in the saloon and a horse and buggy ride.  We also stopped at Wall, SD and looked around the shops.  Since we didn't make it to Rapid City until about 10pm we decided to keep driving and not get a hotel room.  Keegan was a sleep so didn't know about our all night drive.  Dakota suggested it.

July 5th, 2009 - Neal, Christine, Lauren and Sammy had to leave the reunion today.  It was nice seeing them.  Keegan especially had a good time playing with Lauren.  Several times he mentioned getting out to pappy and grandmas to play with her.  Afterwards Fred and I took Dakota, Keegan and Drew golfing for 9 holes.  Pappy and Jason took Jaime, Ben and Nick golfing for 9 holes.  It was Drew's first time golfing.  He did a pretty good job and ended up with a 75.  He can hit the ball far.  Dakota also got a 75 but took one hole off.  He got tired in the heat.  Dakota had a nice drive on the eight hole and made it on the green in 1 and pared it.  Keegan took off about 3 holes.  All had fun.  Fred and I were the only ones to continue golfing the back 9.  I did a little better and ended up with a 112.  55 on the front 9 and 57 on the back.  When we got back to pappy and grandma's we had pizza.  I played pinochle the rest of the evening.  Dakota and Keegan played pool, slot machines and shot off the last of the fireworks with their cousins.

July 4th, 2009 - Keegan and Dakota were the only ones swimming when we woke up this morning. After we got ready and arrived at Pappy and Grandma's house we all went to buy some fireworks.  Dakota picked out sparklers and got enough for the whole group.  He also bought a pack of rockets that he wanted to share.  The kids started shooting some fireworks around 2pm, mostly snakes, smoke bombs, parachutes and some firecrackers.  We had one four shot parachute tip over and point to the group.  Everyone scattered but one of the three that shot back towards us hit Keegan in the hand and Dakota in the stomach.  Dakota got a big welt.  He said he was done with fireworks.  He doesn't like them much anyway.  But he came back out after supper and had fun shooting off a few.  We shot fireworks until midnight without any more mishaps.  Dakota and Keegan got wore out around 11pm and went inside to watch cartoons.

July 3rd, 2009 - We woke up in the morning and went to the pool.  Drew, Dakota, Keegan and I were the only ones to go swimming.  Michelle and Jason worked out in the weight room.  Jason and I went to go golfing with Pappy, Fred, and the Riffel family.  Lauren and Christine came to the hotel.  The kids all swam in the pool.  Pappy, Fred, Jason and I went 18 holes.  I got a 119, a 60 on the front 9 and 59 on the back 9 but Pappy beat me on the last hole and ended up with a 57.  Neal and the Riffles' golfed the front 9 and had fun.  Neal and David tied with 50 beating Fred and Jason's 51 on the front 9.  Jason fell apart on the back 9 dropping down to my level and tying me with a 59.  Fred got a 44 and Pappy a 57.  After David and Avis's delicious dinner I played pinochle.  All the kids played pool, slot machines, monopoly with each other.  Dakota was the banker for monopoly.  He also watched grandma or me playing pinochle.   

July 2nd, 2009 - Pappy, Dakota and I got up and went golfing at 8am.  Dakota played pretty well.  He golfed from the blue tees with us.  He got an 81 on the back 9.  Pappy and I got 64's. Dakota even beat us on a par 3 when he got a 4 and we both had 5's. When we got back from golfing I got the fishing poles ready.  Neal, Christine, Lauren and Sammy were the first to arrive.  Jason, Kristin Drew and Jamie arrived in the early afternoon.  Then  Kay and Fred arrived by supper time. Keegan caught the first catfish.  Drew and Dakota and I each caught one too.  Jaime fished pretty long but didn't get one.   Jason and Kristin made a nice dinner for us.  David, Avis, Nick and Ben didn't come out to pappy and grandma's but arrived at their hotel late in the evening in Sioux city.  We left for our hotel around 9pm and went swimming with Jason, Drew and Jaime.  Michelle and Kristin visited.

July 1st, 2009 - Aunt Margie made a nice breakfast.  We went to visit great grandma Veva.  She was sleeping so we took the kids to the Marion park.  They had a good time playing.  I walked to Keazer's house but he wasn't home.  I talked with Margo at the city building for a bit.  Linda now works with KDOT, Cindy in Hillsboro managing Subway.  I walked to the fireworks stand but Gary had just left so didn't get to see him either.  We stopped back at the nursing home bug great grandma was still sleeping.  We said our goodbyes and left for SD around 1pm.  The boys were excited to be on our way.  They had been looking forward to getting to Pappy and Grandma's house the whole trip.  They didn't want to go to Kansas but after having such a good time at the farm they said they were happy they went to the farm.

June 30th, 2009 - The boys helped Aunt Margie feed the calf in the morning.  They played with Kay Lynn's kittens.  We went to the nursing home after a delicious breakfast from Aunt Margie.  Great Grandma was sleeping.  We said hi but she couldn't stay awake.  We went back to the farm and had lunch with Aunt Margie, Kay Lynn, Asher and Addison.  Then we all met Uncle Mick, Tim and Amy at the lake and went tubing and skiing.  Michelle, Keegan and Kay Lynn were the first to go.  Dakota didn't want to so he rode in the boat with Tim and I. He saw how much fun it was so agreed to go with me and Keegan.  They went slow but he enjoyed it.  We went a second time and Tim sped up and we went over the wake and the boys really really liked that.  They had big smiles on their faces.  They also enjoyed swimming in the lake with Aunt Margie.  Dakota rode with me and got a good laugh at mom wiping out twice on ski's. 

June 29th, 2009 - We woke up at sunrise.  Missy the dog was trotting down the rode about 15 feet behind a skunk.  The skunk walked under our car where we were sleeping.  We met Mick going to the fields so he took us inside.  We all ate breakfast then he and I went to feed the cattle.  I spent the morning in the combine with Uncle Mick.  We brought a load of wheat to town in the semi.  Aunt Margie, Michelle and the boys brought the dump truck with wheat to town.  The boys really enjoyed that.  Dakota was excited to tell me about standing up in the dump truck.  We all had lunch together.  Michelle, the boys and I went to visit great grandma.  She was alert and really looked at the boys.  It was a nice visit.  After our visit we took the boys to the new indoor swimming pool for family swim.  Michelle and the boys swam and slid on the slide.  They really enjoyed it.  We ate dinner with Uncle Mick, Aunt Margie, Tim and Amy.

June 28th, 2009 - I made coffee on the camp stove for Michelle and I.  Keegan was very tired and didn't want to get up so I pulled his sleeping bag out of the tent.  He still didn't want to get up in the full sunlight. I packed up the tent.  Dakota helped.  We stopped in Hot Springs.  Dakota, Keegan and I took the tour at the Mammoth site.  They each enjoyed making a squished penny and bought necklaces.  Keegan bought a shark tooth and Dakota an arrowhead necklace.  We stopped at Wind Cave visitor center and looked around but didn't take the cave tour.  Driving through the park was nice.  We took pictures of buffalo, prairie dogs, a prong horn and deer.  When we drove into Nebraska I took a few pictures of the landscape.  We drove down 385 to the interstate in Burlington, Colorado.  We all got out and stretched at a gas station and played catch with the baseball.  We didn't arrive in Marion until 2am.  Uncle Mick and Aunt Margie's dog was barking up a storm and we hadn't met her yet so we drove to the end of their driveway and slept in the van.

June 20th, 2009 - I pitched to the boys and Nick and Kyle for a while in the afternoon.  They spent most of the day playing in the backyards having sword fights and swinging.

May 31st, 2009 - Keegan went to church with mom this morning.  He likes to go and play with his friend Richie and have donuts after church.  Kyle came over to play baseball but Nick and Dakota went to play other games. May 30th, 2009 - The kids had their last soccer game of the spring.  Dakota scored the first goal in his game and they ended p winning 4 to 2. May 14th, 2009 - We met Amanda, Janae and her boyfriend and his kids at Chuck E Cheese for dinner.  The kids had a great time.  Dakota kept getting plastic cards with his photograph printed on him. April 24th, 2009 - Dakota spent the evening at Cody's for his birthday party.

April 19th, 2009 - Dakota helped me pick weeds out of the garden.  Keegan did too for a few minutes.  Dakota then raked the garden.  Keegan, Kyle and Dakota then planted pumpkin and carrot seeds and peas.

April 18th, 2009 - Dakota and Keegan each had soccer at the same time.  Dakota scored his first goal of the spring today and their team won 3 to 0.  Keegan made a mistake in the last few seconds of the game and put his hand up to block the ball then let the other team run by him and kick it in the goal.  His team tied 3 to 3. After the game we went hiking on Mt. April 17th, 2009 - We went to the kids school after school.  They started a weekly fun run around the playground.  Keegan ran and walked 3 laps.  Dakota did 1 lap.  Some of their car pool friends did 5 and 3 laps.  Keegan, Dakota and i took back the movies to Albertson's where Dakota decided to show his displeasure for not getting candy.  He ended up getting mad and storming out of the store.  Keegan and I went to look for him and couldn't find him.  So we drove around the parking lot, went over to McDonalds then back to the store.  He had been pouting near the entrance by the carts and said he didn't see us walk out.  Some lady's selling stuff saw us drive off and took him to customer service.  When we got back to the store they were on the phone with Michelle at home.  Dakota got grounded for the weekend.

April 16th, 2009 - After school today I took Dakota and Keegan to the golf course and we bought a bucket of balls for them to hit.  Dakota had a few really nice hits.  I tried to teach Keegan about grip, stance, lining up, etc but his comment to me was, "Dad, I know".  Each time I would show him or tell him, I got the same reply.  By the end of the bucket of balls he was getting the hang of it.  We went to the putting green and practiced putting for a little while.  When we got home Michelle had spaghetti waiting for us.  She was babysitting Janae all day who was sick.  After supper we sat down and watched the movie, "The day the Earth Stood Still".  Keegan fell asleep half way through the movie.  After it was over Dakota, Michelle and I watched Survivor. dakota1, dakota2, keegan1, keegan2, keegan3, keegan4,

March 31st, 2009 - The boys and I went to my office to sign a card.  We stopped at Taco Bell and had lunch.  Keegan wanted to go to Trade-A-Game and trade in Dakota's Space Chimps DS game because it was too hard for them.  He picked out a game for Playstation 2.  On the way home I decided to stop at Best Buy.  The boys then decided they wanted a Playstation 3.  I asked them if they were sure but Dakota said Keegan was going to buy it.  I told him he had to split the cost of the system but Keegan could buy the games he picked out.  Dakota started crying because he said Mom just got done re-paying his savings account and he didn't want to spend it.  I told him he doesn't have to buy the system they coudl save their money but he decided he would chip in half of the cost.  They picked out Sonic 2 and Monsters vs. Aliens.  I got MLB 09 The SHow and the system came with a game called Drake.  When we got home I set it up for them.  They played both their games. I tried out Drake but it was pretty hard.  Dakota did better then me playing it.  Then Dakota and I played two games of baseball until 1 AM in the morning.  We each won a game but had 20 plus K's each for both games.

March 30th, 2009 - Michelle and Sean had to stop in Miles City last night due to a blizzard shutting down I-94.  They spent the night at the Holiday Inn and let the kids swim.  Keegan, Dakota and I played baseball in the backyard in the afternoon.  I pitched the whole game.  Nick and Dakota took on Keegan and Kyle.

March 15th, 2009 - Dakota went and spent a few hours at his friend Jonathon's house. 

March 14th, 2009 - Michelle took the boys over to Michael and Matthew's house.  Keegan played leggos, watched TV and had snacks. Dakota and Matthew played with dart guns and light sabers.

March 13th, 2009 - Michelle helped out at the school auction.  The boys played in the gym while she was working.  They had a great time.  Keegan and Dakota watched Woody and Kung Fu Panda on TV with their friend Cody.  They played a little basketball.

February 20th, 2009 - I was the carpool person again today so took the boys and their friends to school. February 18th, 2009 - The boys spent time after school at Caleb's house until I got off work.  We drove to Pizza Hut on our way home and got Dakota his free pan pizza.  They mostly enjoyed drinking the Root Beer and each only had one piece of pizza.  We got home and Dakota did his homework and read.  Keegan read some books too and then we watched Space Buddies before bed.

February 17th, 2009 - Michelle headed to ND with Tucker and Kelly for a week.  I took the kids to school and picked them up along with the other kids in the car pool.  Dakota did his homework right after school then played with Nick on the computer.

January 4th, 2009 - Today, sucked!  The Vikings lost to the Eagles 26 to 14.  Michelle got kicked to the curb for sending this sick photograph from Naomi's. michelle1, Dakota and Keegan played on the play station all morning.  Keegan played over at Kellen's house during the afternoon.  Dakota stayed and watched the end of the Vikings game with me.
